Common P2P and ACH scam red flags.

Digital payments are fast and convenient, but scammers use peer-to-peer (P2P) and ACH transfers to trick customers into sending money. Once sent, these payments can be difficult or impossible to reverse.

Common P2P and ACH Scam Red Flags

1. Authorized Push Payment (APP) fraud

Scammers trick you into sending money yourself by pretending to be a trusted person or organization.

  • Fake alerts claiming your account is compromised.
  • Impersonation of bank staff, vendors, employers, or family members.
  • Requests to move money to a "safe" account.

2. Common scam scripts

Fraudsters often use convincing stories, such as:

  • " You need to transfer funds immediately to prevent fraud."
  • " You accidentally received a payment - send it back."
  • " Pay a fee or deposit to secure a job, rental, or service."

Urgency and pressure are major red flags.

3. ACH fraud and unauthorized transfers

Scammers may try to:

  • Trick you into sharing account and routing numbers.
  • Set up unauthorized ACH debits or credits.
  • Impersonate a business or a service provider to request bank details.

Always verify who is requesting your banking information.

Important: P2p and ACH payments are intended for trusted recipients. If you authorize a payment or share your banking details, recovery may be limited.

What to Do

  • Only send payments to people and businesses you trust.
  • Do not share account or routing numbers unless you have verified the recipient.
  • Contact our support team if you are unsure before sending a payment.
